Advancing Research for the Third Sector
Connecting researchers and practitioners across Australia and New Zealand to strengthen the not-for-profit sector through insight, collaboration and evidence.
About ANZTSR
What we do
Established in 1992. Australian and New Zealand Third Sector Research is a network of scholars and practioners whose research is the third sector. This sector is widely acknowledged as playing a significant role in Australasian society.
ANZTSR exists to support and grow the third sector research community by:
Creating opportunities for researchers and practitioners to connect and collaborate
Hosting events and forums that encourage learning and exchange of ideas
Publishing the Third Sector Review and supporting other research outputs
Promoting the value and impact of the third sector across Australia and New Zealand
Our Purpose
The third sector plays a vital role in society, yet it is often under-recognised and under-researched.
ANZTSR was formed to address this gap - bringing together individuals who might otherwise work in isolation, and creating a shared space to develop knowledge, insight and impact.
ANZTSR’s journal is the Third Sector Review. It is the flagship Australasian refereed academic journal for cross-disciplinary not-for-profit research and is recognised for Australian Excellence in Research Australia (ERA) purposes and for PBRF Evidence Portfolios in New Zealand.
Third Sector Review has been publishing research for 25 years. Articles address characteristics of the third sector or any aspect of its management, including governance, human resource management, the labour market, financial management, strategic management and managing change, community development, fund-raising, user rights, relations with government, legal issues and historical development.
